YEARs 1 & 2
My name is Miss Aldred and I am a year 1/2 teacher. I have been teaching at The John Bamford Primary school for 15 years and have worked in reception, year 1 / 2 and year 3/4. I love all subjects but especially history and literacy. In my spare time I love to spend time with my two sons and their Daddy walking and playing Spider-man.
My name is Miss Bradbury and I am a Year 1/2 at The John Bamford Primary School. I enjoy teaching all subjects across the curriculum, but my favourite areas to teach are Science and PSHE. In my spare time I love spending time with my two daughters and taking my pug Gus on lots of long walks in Cannock Chase.
In Year 1, children continue their learning of Phonics in preparation for the Phonics Screening Check in June. In these lessons, children are set weekly spellings linked to the common exception words for Year 1. Your child will read with an adult at school but reading regularly at home will support your child’s reading development and progress.
From the moment children enter Year 1, we work alongside parents/guardians to build their child’s independence. This means that we ask that they come into the cloakroom by themselves and are responsible for their belongings and actions. If your child has shoes that have laces, please practice tying these laces with your child.
Teaching and learning in Year 2 is through a range of exciting and stimulating adventures. We encourage the children to become fully immersed within their learning and foster a sense of independence and responsibility.
We will be looking at a range of adventures which focus on local, national and global aspects.
