John Bamford Primary

YEAR 5 & 6 C

Mrs Marshall and Mrs Dainty | Year 5 & 6 Teachers

Hello! I’m Mrs Marshall and I’m looking forward to teaching Years 5 and 6 this year.

I have been teaching at The John Bamford Primary School for the past six years and have had the pleasure of teaching across both Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. I enjoy teaching all subjects but I have a particular passion for creative subjects such as Literacy and Art & Design.

This year, I’m excited to be leading JLT alongside Mrs Lowe. I’m looking forward to supporting the children as they develop their leadership skills and grow in confidence throughout the year, as well as helping organise and take part in a variety of school events.

Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my family and going for long walks in the countryside.

Hello! My name is Mrs Dainty, and I have been fortunate to spend more than 10 years teaching children across both Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.

This year, I am delighted to be part of our STREAM and Digital Literacy team, where I help lead Science, Computing and Online Safety, while also playing a key role in developing our school’s Sustainability and Climate Change Strategy. I am passionate about encouraging curiosity, creativity and a love of learning, particularly in these exciting and ever-evolving areas.

I am especially thrilled to be teaching Years 5 and 6 this year and look forward to the fantastic experiences, challenges and achievements we will share together.

Outside the classroom, I love spending quality time with my daughter, exploring the outdoors, and taking long walks with my energetic Yorkipoo!

Teaching and learning in Years 5 and 6 is through a range of exciting and stimulating adventures. We encourage the children to become fully immersed in their learning and foster their growing independence and responsibility through mature programmes of study.

As part of the Years 5 and 6 adventures, children will be exploring a range of subjects, which focus on local, national and global aspects to support our vision and values.

In Years 5 and 6, children continue their learning of multiplication facts as part of their daily Maths lessons; they will be given the opportunity to practice their recall of multiplication facts up to 12 x 12 and beyond - squared, cubed and prime numbers.

All children in Year 6 will have the opportunity to learn to play the guitar. Those children who cannot yet swim 25m, will be able to access weekly swimming lessons during the autumn term.
