John Bamford Primary

YEAR 5

Mrs Marshall and Mrs Dainty | Year 5 Teachers

Hello, my name is Mrs Marshall and I am looking forward to teaching Year 5 this year. I have been teaching at The John Bamford Primary for 5 years across both KS1 and KS2. I love teaching all subjects but I particularly enjoy Literacy and Art and Design. I feel that these subjects provide opportunities for children to express themselves creatively and I find it very rewarding watching their confidence and imagination grow during these lessons. In my spare time, I enjoy going on outdoor adventures with my family and going on dog walks on Cannock Chase. My favourite place to visit is Cornwall and my ideal day out there would consist of ice cream, sea and sand!

Hi my name is Mrs Dainty and I have been teaching for over 10 years. During this time, I have taught across both Key Stages. I am responsible for leading Science across the school. I am excited to be teaching Year 5 this year and sharing their exciting learning adventures with them. When I am not teaching, I enjoy spending quality time with my daughter and taking my dog for long walks.

Teaching and learning in Year 5 is through a range of exciting and stimulating adventures. We encourage the children to become fully immersed in their learning and foster their growing independence and responsibility through mature programmes of study.

As part of the Year 5 adventures, children will be exploring a range of subjects, which focus on local, national and global aspects to support our vision and values.

In Year 5, children continue their learning of multiplication facts as part of their daily Maths lessons; they will be given the opportunity to practice their recall of multiplication facts up to 12 x 12 and beyond.

All children in Year 5 will continue swimming lessons. All children will have the opportunity to learn to play the guitar.
