John Bamford Primary

Year 5 & 6 A

Mrs Chattoe & Ms Wall | Year 5 & 6 Teachers

My name is Mrs Chattoe and I started work at The John Bamford School in November 2021. I have spent the majority of the last 20+ years teaching Year 6 which I thoroughly enjoy. It is such a privilege to be able to watch the children learn new skills and gain confidence in their own ability. In my spare time, I love going for walks in the countryside with my three children, miniature dachshund, crazy collie and very patient husband. My favourite place to visit is Wales, so we can see family and relax on the beautiful sandy beaches – weather permitting

My name is Ms Wall and I am a Year 6 teacher who is lucky enough to share a class with Mrs Chattoe. I have been teaching at The John Bamford Primary School for 25 years and I am also the Deputy Headteacher. I am responsible for Assessment, Health and Safety, Data Protection and children in receipt of Pupil Premium.

I love all subjects but especially those that allow me to be creative such as Art and Design. I lead the whole school assembly each week where I can share my passion for building tolerance of others, both humans and animals.

Teaching and learning in Years 5 and 6 is through a range of exciting and stimulating adventures. We encourage the children to become fully immersed in their learning and foster their growing independence and responsibility through mature programmes of study.

As part of the Years 5 and 6 adventures, children will be exploring a range of subjects, which focus on local, national and global aspects to support our vision and values.

In Years 5 and 6, children continue their learning of multiplication facts as part of their daily Maths lessons; they will be given the opportunity to practice their recall of multiplication facts up to 12 x 12 and beyond - squared, cubed and prime numbers.

All children in Year 6 will have the opportunity to learn to play the guitar. Those children who cannot yet swim 25m, will be able to access weekly swimming lessons during the autumn term.
